Applications to Change Religious Status
Shoreshim has obtained a list of almost 2,500 names of Polish Jews from a register in Krakow. This
register was probably compiled sometime during the years 1941 or 1942, although some of the records
reflect applications from the pre-1940 era.
The data comprises 2 parts...
Part I: This is mainly genealogic data and includes:
Last name and first name
Names of parents: This often includes the mother's maiden name. Where the father's surname is omitted, it is assumed that it is the same as the prime individual's surname.
Date of birth: Usually the actual date, sometimes the age in years.
Place of birth: Usually Krakow and surrounding towns, but many other Polish towns also found.
Address in Krakow
Occupation
Part II: This is is non-genealogic information dealing with conversions. Since it is of a sensitive nature, it has been decided not to make this additional data available on a public forum. However, those wishing to obtain copies of the original document - and hence ALL of the information - should check our FAQ utility.
